Adult Behind-the-Wheel Course
Q: Why should I, as an adult, complete the driver education program?
A: The driver education program is NOT required for individuals age 18 and older. However, individuals choose to complete this program for a number of reasons. Most often the reason is that the completion of the driver education program results in the 60-day hold period of a learner's permit to be waived and the road skills test to be issued by the driver training school and not the DMV administrator.
Q: What courses are required for the driver education program?
A: Individuals must complete the driver education course, classroom or online, and behind-the-wheel course.
Q: If I choose not to complete the program what is needed for me to get my driver's license?
A: Individuals age 18 and older must hold the learner's permit for at least 60 days. Once the holding period is over, individuals can return to the DMV customer service center to take the road skills test. Individuals must complete the required driving checklist with a licensed driver and submit the form when applying to take the test.
